Boat Dive - HMS Guide Me II

Step back into maritime history with a dive on the HMS Guide Me II, a 1907 steam drifter converted into an anti-submarine gunboat during the First World War. Sunk following a collision in August 1918, this fantastic piece of history now rests virtually upright and remarkably intact on a hard shingle seabed just southeast of the Muglins.

Measuring 26 metres long, the wreck is a magnet for local marine life. You can expect to find large conger eels lurking beneath the keel, alongside plenty of crabs, lobsters, and dense schools of fish.

While the wheelhouse has demolished over time, the most striking feature is the massive 2-metre gash cutting through the hull amidships—a stark reminder of her final moments on patrol.

Dive Specifications:

• Depth: 30m to 36m
• Suitability: Experienced divers only (Minimum Advanced Open Water)
• Conditions: High Currents. This site is strictly dived on slack water for safety and maximum enjoyment

Life jackets are provided for all crew and members on board.  (Life jackets are serviced annually by Solas Marine, Dun Laoghaire)

EQUIPMENT / CYLINDER HIRE

We have a limited supply of dive equipment available. Any member requiring a dive cylinder of dive equipment must book it online through the Equipment Hire section at least 24 hrs in advance to ensure it will be brought to the boat for the dive.

NOTE: Equipment hire is available ONLY when diving with Nauti Diver or Triton Diving.
